Taconic can now deliver models to your research facility in California twice a week with an increased offering in rat and mouse models!

We recently expanded our production facility in Cambridge City, Indiana to better support the specific preclinical animal model needs of researchers along the West Coast. Learn more about the new production facility here!

 

How does this expansion enable Taconic to better serve you? 

  • Greater Availability of Models: As production ramps up at the new facility, researchers on the West Coast will have access to a greater selection of commercial rat and mouse models.  
  • Improved Delivery Options: In order to better serve you, we will be expanding our current delivery options, providing you with more flexibility when planning your study, ordering, and receiving your research models.  
  • Increased Access to Your Colony: We are bringing your mice closer to you. Our team of program managers and animal care experts will monitor and care for your colonies in this new facility until you're ready for them to be shipped directly to you.

Fred Beasley, PhD

Account Manager - Southern California

Fred Beasley obtained his PhD from Canada's Western University, researching mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis. Dr. Beasley did postdoctoral work at the University of California and at the Calibr Institute, developing in vivo models of infection and therapy for small molecule immune boosters and antimicrobials. He has previously served as the In Vivo Biologist for Jecure Therapeutics, and as a Director of Scientific Engagement at Crown Bioscience.

Dr. Beasley joined Taconic in 2020 as a Field Applications Scientist, recently transitioning into an Account Manager role serving the needs of preclinical researchers in Southern California.

Mia Kumar

Account Manager - Northern California, Oregon, and Washington

Mia Kumar has a M.S. in Biotechnology, Biodefense from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology, with a minor in Chemistry from Humboldt State University. Mia joined Taconic in January 2021 as an Account Manager. In this role, she helps accelerate research programs for biopharma partners in Northern California, Oregon, and Washington.

Prior to her arrival at Taconic, Mia spent 6 years in R&D at the National Institutes of Health, and 5 years supporting Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology companies with bioprocessing equipment and consumables. Mia’s R&D experience has greatly influenced her success in connecting with clients at Taconic.

Mark Bazzett

Sales Team Senior Manager - Central California

Mark Bazzett has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego. He has over 25 years of technical sales experience which allows him to offer superior support to life science customers in the greater San Diego area.

Mark joined Taconic as an Account Manager in 2018, transitioning to the role of Sales Team Senior Manager in 2020 where he continues to consult biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in Central California.

Tom Cowden

Account Manager - Northern California

Tom Cowden has a B.Sc in Biology from Loyal University in Maryland. Mark has 25 years of experience in sales and business development including biologics sales in the healthcare field, Preclinical non-GLP/GLP studies for IND submission, and preclinical bioanalytic.

Tom joined Taconic Biosciences in 2022 as a Strategic Account Manager. He looks forward to supporting advancements in preclinical research conducted in Northern California.

Emily Alimonti

Account Manager

Since her arrival to Taconic in 2014, Emily Alimonti has supported clients in different capacities; from order management, to customer service and sales. During this time, she has gained a deep understanding of the specific needs and challenges faced by life science companies.

As an Account Manager, Emily leverages her experience and Taconic’s comprehensive animal model solutions to better serve research organizations. Her proactive, consultative approach allows her to be an ideal partner for experimental success.
